Creating Holiday Content: #4thOfJuly

Did you know that holiday related content brings 1.5X more engagement than any other category of content?

Ideally, businesses should start their holiday themed content about 3 weeks out, depending on what/if you’re doing anything for the holiday. If you’re having a huge sale or launching something special, I’d definitely get people excited early and in a creative way, so you can generate buzz and hope that your early bird customers will have time to spread the word.

The Social Times released an awesome info-graphic (courtesy of unmetric.com) that offers useful tips and a recommended time-line for the release of content, depending on the media you choose, which I have included below. But, before you scroll down to take a look, I want to remind you that you can automate posts!

If you’ve received my Marketing Musts, you know how important it is to remain consistent (holiday or not!), and of a few resources to help you be consistent even when you need to focus on things other than your social platforms. So, there is really  no excuse! BUT, let me also [strongly] suggest that you maintain an element of organic posting (another way of saying “real-time” posting).

The official hashtag for Independence day is #4thOfJuly. So, while you’re enjoying your beer and BBQ, post a pic of what you’re up to and take 2 minutes to post it with the hashtag #4thOfJuly PLUS your 3 fave, business related hashtags. No need for a witty caption if you can’t think of one, the important thing is to connect organically and in a way that will be seen by your audience.

The reason social media works is because people get to know YOU. The world of marketing is changing because now we’re getting to know the people behind the business. So, maintain an element of organic interaction over the long weekend and then put the phone away and enjoy the moment. You gotta have a life, too! 😉
